TONTO will kickstart the summer with the release of their new track.

With a re-opening of the pubs on the horizon, the aptly-named Down the Hatch will find a place among those eager to grab their first drink in months down the local.

The single is only a sample of more to come from the band - previously known as Kieran Fisher and the Reel Movement - with an EP in the works for late this year.

Singer Kieran Fisher said: "The new tune does what it says on the tin. It was written to be the first band single so we wanted to come out the gates with a bang.

"We are all happy with how it came out and is exactly how we envisioned it."

He added: "The EP is written; it's called Bad and Boozy, and it's in the process of being recorded - four or five songs at least.

"They kinda tie in as a whole, that's the reason they were chosen to go together. It's got us all on a buzz!

"They are all well-rounded tracks in their own right. It's a few different vibes and you can hear some of our influences in them."

Kieran and co have yet to play a live gig since putting the band together. They had been due to take to the stage in April last year, under their previous name, but Covid put paid to that.

But Tonto are raring to go and are confident of wowing audiences all over the UK this year.

Kieran continued: "We are hoping to pick up where we left off on the gig front.

"We had a few festivals book and a trip over to Wales. When we can get back on the stage, that's when the real work starts.

"All in all we are looking to build up fans up and down the country, you can't beat a dance about the Wee County."

He added: "Our aim is to bring a bit of rawness back to guitar music. Not dressed up with lots of effects, just four guys kicking out tunes with drums guitar and bass -- no smoke and mirrors; it is what it is.

"I want to just say thanks to everyone who's showed interest and support in the band even before the first proper live show."

Tonto - Down the Hatch will be available tomorrow, March 26.
