FORTH VALLEY musicians will come together for a fundraising event in aid of SAMH.

The artists will all perform sets next month as they try to give support to all those suffering from mental health issues in Scotland.

The event – Virtual Groove – will see sets from Clacks duo Sister Gavin and The Gator, along with Laura Begley, James Lafferty, of Oasis tribute act Stop the Clocks and Liam McGrandles, fresh from a recent digital duet with Rod Stewart.

Also on the bill are David Tonner, Ian Whitfield, Scott Ashworth, Shauny Sherman and Scott Forsyth.

Virtual Groove will be streamed live from the event's Facebook page on Friday, April 9.

Organiser Claire McFarlane initially kickstarted the idea as part of her Sound Production course at Forth Valley College.

And with all the issues many are facing, especially with the isolation resulting from lockdown, it became important to Claire that the project help as many people as it could.

She has since opted to support the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) and hopes to hit the £1,000 fundraising mark.

Claire said: "I'm so chuffed with the lineup, they'll perform live streams from their home throughout the day.

"I can't thank the singers enough for being involved in the project.

"You often see many of them giving up their time to take part in various different fundraisers.

"It speaks volumes on the community, the industry and the people working in it.

"I think the charity resonates with many involved and I'm so happy they're all a part of it.

Claire added that many of the artists were keen to give up their time for the cause as the charity's work resonates with some of those taking part.

"It's all to raise funds for SAMH," she added. "The charity means so much to so many of us as we all know and care for someone who has struggled through a dark period.

"Even more so during these challenging times – people aren't getting the help that they need and SAMH is constantly working to change that.

"It's such a brilliant cause. The goal is to reach £1,000, so I'm hoping to smash that.

"I'm just trying to get the word out and get people engaged to raise as much as possible and for everyone to enjoy the awesome lineup."
