THREE overnight road closures will take place on the northbound carriageway of the M80 later this month.

One kilometre of the northbound carriageway of the M80 near Stoneywood will be resurfaced to improve the road surface.

The works will begin on Thursday, April 22 and continue on the following Sunday and Monday, April 25 and 26, from 8pm until 6am the following morning.

A diversion route suitable for trunk road traffic will be signposted between M80 Junction 8 Bankhead and Junction 9 Pirnhall via the M876 and the M9, adding an estimated 11 minutes and 10.2 miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s south east network manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will significantly improve safety and ride quality for motorists on this section of the M80.

“Road closures are essential to ensure the safety of workers and road users, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption and will do all we can to complete the project as quickly as possible.”
