A FLAG has been hoisted on Dollar's new golf course to coincide with the start of the new season.

The nine-hole golf course was launched in Dollar in July 2020 and is open to all who are interested in playing.

Annual passes allow unlimited play and there is always a pay-and-play basis.

Last week a new flag was hoisted to coincide with the start of a new golf season and several fairways have benefited from drainage work carried out during the winter.

Moragh Dunning, spokesperson for the course, said: "There are new signs on the tees and the greens are coming to life having been moss-killed, fertilised and scarified.

"It is heartening to have a forward-looking landowner and an enthusiastic greenkeeper who both wish to see this historic course open to all."

Two circular tree plantations have been created using the Miyawaki method, and more planting is planned with Harviestoun Estate in conjunction with Dollar Development Trust.

Moragh continued: "Not only is there the golf course but also a large walking area with stunning views of Dollar and Castle Campbell, where paths have been cut through meadows.

"What could be better on a summer day than a lovely walk with beautiful views looking down onto Dollar?"
