VOTERS are set to head to the polls tomorrow, Thursday May 6, to elect representatives to the Scottish Parliament.

Those who have registered to vote and are planning to vote in person should have already received a poll card, detailing where their polling place is.

However, people do not need their poll card to vote and if the card is lost or if it has never arrived, residents should be able to contact the council to find out where their polling place is.

Polling places will open tomorrow at 7am in the morning and will be open until 10pm.

Those who are voting by post are required to complete and return their ballot papers, ensuring they arrive by 10pm on Thursday, May 6.

People voting by proxy, allowing somebody they trust to vote on their behalf, should already have completed an application form last month.

However, people who are in an emergency and are unable to go to the polling station in person can apply for an emergency proxy, up to 5pm on the day of the vote.

Polling places in Clackmannanshire are Covid-19 safe with a number of measures in place to protect people.

Importantly, people are expected to use hand sanitiser provided when entering and exiting and voters must wear a face covering at all times, unless exempt.

There have been a few temporary changes to polling places.

Voters from the area bounded by Tullibody Road and Stirling Road – Mar Place, all of Claremont, Fairyburn and Braehead (OC470) have been allocated to Alloa Town Hall as have voters from the area east of Ludgate to Ring Road – including most of Alloa town centre (OC477).

Another temporary change of polling place is relevant for residents from Forestmill and the landward area towards Clackmannan (OC595) as they have been allocated to Clackmannan Town Hall.
