A SECOND fire was extinguished in Menstrie in less than a week.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) were alerted to a fire at Menstrie Burn last night, Monday, May 31 and quickly attended the scene.

An SFRS spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 7.30pm on Monday, May 31 to reports of a fire in the open at Menstrie Burn, Menstrie, Clackmannanshire.

“Operations Control immediately mobilised three appliances and an all-terrain vehicle and firefighters extinguished a gorse fire covering an area of around 100m by 100m. 

“There were no reported casualties and crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”

This fire comes just days after a house fire in Menstrie’s Clifford Park was also dealt with by the SFRS.

There were no reported casualties.
