AN ALVA woman took money from a group of youngsters and bought them alcohol from a local shop.

Jennifer Moffat initially bought two half bottles of vodka for a 14-year-old boy.

She then collected money from his friends outside the shop and went back inside to buy them Buckfast and Apple Sourz.

CCTV captured her buying the booze and then handing it over to the youths.

Moffat, 52, of Southcroft, appeared in the dock at Alloa Sheriff Court, on Thursday, June 17, where she admitted a series of offences committed last year.

On November 13, at Lifestyle, Striling Street, Alva, she bought alcohol for a young boy aged 14 and others.

She also breached bail conditions not to contact the youth.

Also, on September 3 and October 18 she breached bail conditions on having unsupervised contact with the boy.

Defence solicitor Robert Smith said that his client had long-standing alcohol and mental health issues.

Sheriff Craig Harris told Moffat that, given the toll alcohol had taken on her own life, "it beggars belief that you were buying alcohol for children".

He added: "It's astonishing you should think that you should be introducing alcohol into children's lives."

He fined her £430 and imposed a community payback order with 12 months of supervision.
