AN ALLOA man racially abused two shop workers and damaged a door at their store.

Daniel Venables, 21, of Whins Road, appeared for sentencing at Alloa Sheriff Court on Thursday, June 24.

He admitted that on March 22, 2019, at Spice Fusion, Whins Road, he acted in a racially aggravated manner towards two people working there, shouted, swore, acted aggressively, used racially offensive language and made threats to violence towards them and struck the glass panel of a door there, damaging it.

Defence solicitor Michael Lowrie said: "This was clearly reprehensible behaviour and he acknowledges this.

"It was a rather foolish argument which grew arms and legs. Alcohol had been taken but there was no excuse for his behaviour."

Sheriff Craig Harris said: "The description 'reprehensible behaviour' is accurate. Racial abuse has no place in society whatsoever."

However, he noted that it was his first offence and imposed a community payback order with nine months of supervision.

He also imposed a £70 compensation order for the damage caused.
