IT HAS been a 15-year dream in the making, but Alloa's town centre is now home to LoveCake.

Aimee Maxwell unveiled the new cake shop on Mar Street on Saturday, August 21, realising her long-held ambitions.

She has dreamed of opening a cake shop since she was 12 years old and those aspirations were finally realised over the weekend.

Speaking ahead of the official opening, Aimee said she was "excited but nervous" ahead of her first day.

She added: “I’ve been doing celebrations cakes from home on and off for the last 10 years and then my friend gave me the opportunity to open a shop. I jumped at it.

“He took me around the shop and I said: ‘This is nice’. He said: ‘It’s yours’.”

Aimee’s sister-in-law, her partner’s cousin and auntie will be helping out in the shop along with a couple of friends.

Despite the nerves, Aimee said she hadn’t slept last week because she was so excited.

“Everything I keep talking about is the shop opening,” she continued.

“My little girl is so excited, she’s been telling all her friends at school.”

Indeed, Millie, Aimee’s four-year-old daughter, will also be on hand to help out when needed as well.

Aimee said: “She’s already decided that her job will be making sure that the juices are all filled up and everything tastes good.”

A wide variety of products are on offer, including milkshakes, soup and sandwiches, cakes, waffles and a gourmet toffee apple.

There are also family boxes, including the Family Graze, which includes six cupcakes, four NYC cookies, two brookie bars, two traybake slices, four regular slushes and pick 'n' mix sweets.

Aimee explained how she went to college to study professional cooking and fell in love with the patisserie side of the course.

“I made a cake for my auntie at Christmas,” she continued. “And since then I got hooked on cake decorating.

“I was [always] interested in working with food; I’ve always enjoyed making my own food, and then when I went to college my lecturer said I had a gift for it – so, I stuck at it.”
