FRIENDS and family of a Tullibody teenager who died earlier this month have raised more than £10,000 to pay for his funeral.

Steven Alexander Robertson died on Monday, September 13 after being diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin's lymphoma.

The 19-year-old only had around four weeks of chemotherapy left and doctors were pleased with the progress he had been making, however his organs began to fail and he passed away.

Within days of the Tullibody teenager’s death, his friends created a fundraiser page to raise the money needed to pay for his funeral.

On Saturday, Steven’s friends and loved ones gathered at Lornshill Academy for a Celtic v Rangers match in honour of Steven with the aim of raising even more money for him.

The total raised now stands at more than £10,000.

In a fitting tribute to Celtic fan Steven, the boys in green and white defeated their rivals 3-2.

A Facebook page made for the day also states this will now become an annual event in memory of Steven.
