A BRIDGE coming into Clacks will be closed for almost a month later this year for essential repair works to be carried out.

Perth and Kinross Council tweeted earlier today, October 8, that arrangements are being made to close the A823 Glendevon Bridge which was severely damaged during a storm on August 12 last year.

They continued: “A contractor has been appointed to carry out the repair works, and discussions are ongoing with them, as well as BEAR Scotland and Fife Council who are also affected by the road closure.

“While these discussions are still to be finalised, we anticipate that the closure will start on November 15, 2021, and the road will reopen on December 20, 2021.

“We envisage that a full road closure for vehicles will be necessary for a part of the works however it's also intended that it will remain open for pedestrians & cyclists.

“Situations may arise where it'll be necessary to temporarily restrict pedestrian/cyclist access, for example lifting operations when the temporary bridge is removed.

“However, we also hope that any restriction of this type will only be required for a relatively short time. Finalised arrangements will be confirmed in due course.”
