AN ALVA composer has followed up winning a global composing competition by having his music chosen by a Hollywood company.

Paul Jelfs, who recently won the top prize in the Able Arts Foundation's worldwide music composition contest with his composition Back To Where It All Began, a further instrumental composition has been selected by Hollywood-based Cinesamples for showcasing their products.

Mike Patti, CEO of Cinesamples and an established composer who has written scores for Disney, Star Wars, and various video games, was so impressed with the composition that the company approached Paul about using his composition to showcase their woodwind sample library, which Paul had used to write the piece.

Paul's composition was commissioned to showcase the realism and scope of their CineWinds core library, a next-generation woodwinds library recorded in the legendary MGM Scoring Stage at Sony Pictures studio in Los Angeles and mixed by master engineer Dennis Sands whose credits include The Avengers, The Shawshank Redemption, Back to the Future and more.

Commenting on this latest success, Paul told the Advertiser: "I am utterly thrilled and still in disbelief to have one of my compositions used to promote Cinesamples libraries considering their amazing pedigree.

"Cinesamples libraries have featured on blockbuster Hollywood films, Sky TV, BBC as well as various video games and productions, so this really is something I only dared dream about.

"Along with winning the recent Able Artists Foundation competition this latest achievement has taken me completely by surprise, though is another huge step to making a successful career out of something I love."

Paul's composition, titled Gusty Heights the Village Elder, is composed in the style of a video game backing track utilising the Cinesamples woodwind library Cine wind.
