MEMBERS of Sauchie Community Group have announced its Christmas Extravaganza will return this year after going online in 2020.

After taking the show online last year due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the group took to Facebook on Sunday, October 31 to announce the show will return to an in-person format for 2021.

This year’s show will take place at 7.30pm on Saturday, December 11 at Sauchie and Coalsnaughton Church Hall.

Limited to 180 guests, tickets are priced at £10 and are already selling quickly.

Craig Miller, co-community manager at the group, can’t wait to see everyone perform live once again.

He told the Advertiser: “We did it online [last year], everyone recorded their pieces and we put it together to do an online extravaganza but it’s not the same.

“It was seen by thousands of people so it was good, it was great people gave up their time and expertise to do that and to record it themselves but we’re looking forward to getting back to doing it.”

Craig explained the venue change from Alloa Town Hall to Sauchie and Coalsnaughton Church Hall was due to people’s reluctance to attend events in mass numbers and to ensure everyone’s safety.

He said: “We’ve cut it down to 180 capacity instead of the 500 we’d normally do. Tickets have already been flying out, it’s a first-come first-serve basis so people will need to be quick if they want them.”

Craig will be performing as will Leona Hens, Alastair Faulkner, the Sauchie Community Group Choir and some more names who are yet to be announced.

No performers are paid for their time and all money raised through ticket sales goes towards helping the group keep the costs of activities free or low cost throughout the year.

One thing that’s clear is how much Craig and the group are looking forward to performing in front of an audience once again.

“We’ve been rehearsing with the choir now for a couple of months,” Craig continued. “Which has been great because, again, we did that online for a year and a half.

“Actually getting back to in person and getting to share talent really does make a difference.”

Tickets for the extravaganza are on sale now.
