A CLACKS road will be closed for work to take place on the Clackmannanshire Bridge at the end of this month.

Commencing on Tuesday, November 30, the works will last for nine nights, between the hours of 7.30pm and 6am, excluding Saturday and Sunday.

The work is expected to be complete by 6am on Saturday, December 11.

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is planning to resurface 1.65km of carriageway on the A876, North of Clackmannanshire Bridge.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public, it is necessary to close the A876 in both directions during the works.

A clearly signed diversion route will be in place between Higgins Neuk Roundabout and Kilbagie Roundabout, with traffic wishing to cross the Clackmannanshire Bridge diverted across the Kincardine Bridge via the A977.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s south east network manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will help to address defects on this section of the A876 and greatly improve the driving experience for motorists.

“We’d like to thank the local community in advance for their patience while we carry out this project. We’ll do all we can to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible.”

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to make them aware of the plans and access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
