NOMINATIONS are now open for the 2022 Clackmannanshire Sports Council annual awards.

The awards show will take place in the Alloa Town Hall on Thursday, March 31 next year.

Nominations are now open for individuals and teams in the 14 categories available and an extra award this year is the Junior School Sports Award which is for any pupil who competes in primary or secondary school sports competitions but does not represent a club at national or international level.

The awards were cancelled last year due to Covid-19 but the sports team are delighted to be able to plan them for next year.

Kenny Cook, active communities officer and secretary for the Sports Council, said: “We realise that due to the Covid-19 pandemic many teams and individuals have not been able to compete as regularly as they might have wished but we know competitions have been held and winners are out there in our community.

“Coaches may not have been able to coach as normal but we know many have done exceptional and innovative things during the pandemic and we would love to hear all about them.

“For the size of the county it is amazing the heights that individuals and teams reach on the national and international sporting stage.

"Over the last year we have heard of many great sporting achievements and we would look forward to receiving them as nominations.

“The standard in all the categories is always very high with some absolutely amazing achievements.”

Those who are not competing at national or international level can still be dominated and recognised for their contribution to sport and physical activity in the Wee County.

Coaches who deliver programmes that aren’t competitive can also be nominated, as can young leaders and volunteers.

Even if a person doesn’t take part in sport but helps behind the scenes with washing the kit, holding fund raising events, doing the administration or booking parks they can still be nominated.
