A SUPPORTED accommodation site in Alloa is to be redeveloped if given the green light by Clackmannanshire Council.

Plans to redevelop Gaberston House on Whins Road into unique supported living flats with a communal annex have been lodged with the local authority.

The proposals for the building, operated as a residential service for adults with mental health issues by CrossReach – the Social Care Council of the Church of Scotland – seek to change the current use from a residential institution to unique flats.

A supporting statement with the plans explained: “However, the proposals are for occupants who will still receive a level of supported living as indicated by the proposed communal annex building.”

The statement added that the planned building and annex remain in proportion and scale with the existing site and will occupy a similar footprint in size and position.

It added: “It is to be noted that throughout this redevelopment the current occupants will be temporarily housed elsewhere only to be moved back into the new building once complete.

“Therefore, parking requirements will remain at the same low level.”

The plans are available on the council's planning portal under 21/00248/FULL.
