TWO men were arrested this week in connection with the death of Wee County charity cyclist Tony Parsons.

Police confirmed that the men, both aged 29-year-old, were arrested and charged in connection with the death of the Tillicoultry man, who disappeared more than four years ago.

On Tuesday, January 12 this year, specialist search officers, supported by forensic scientists, discovered human remains in a remote area of ground close to a farm near the A82 at Bridge of Orchy.

Police would then confirm the remains to be of Tony.

John McFall, detective inspector of the Major Investigations Team and who led the inquiry team, said: “I would like to offer my thanks to the local community for all their help and assistance throughout this investigation and to those who came forward with significant information.”

The two men are due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court today, Thursday, December 2, 2021.

Tony, a former Royal Navy submariner, was on a charity bike ride and travelled from his Tillicoultry home on Friday, September 29, 2017 to Fort William.

He intended to return home by bicycle, but was reported missing a few days later.
