CLACKMANNAN Town Hall Trust is seeking new members for its Board of Trustees to secure the future of the much-loved community asset.

The trust, which was established in 2004, has overseen the management of Clackmannan Town Hall, in that time organising community events and operating as a social hub for the people of Clackmannan and the Wee County.

As a voluntary organisation, the trust relies on the support of a voluntary board of trustees who help with the management and running of the town hall.

Earlier this year, Clackmannanshire Council committed £1.2 million for repair works on the building to restore and repair the town hall as part of its regeneration plan for Clackmannan.

With work due to start next year, the trust is keen to welcome new members who can bring ideas and a vision for the future of the Town Hall, protecting its legacy as well as helping to secure its future.

Robert Horne, chair of Clackmannan Town Hall Trust, said: “There has never been a more exciting time to be part of the Trust, with the commitment by Clackmannanshire Council to restore the town hall, it will remain a fixture in our community for many more years to come.

“But, to do this we need the support of our community too, to ensure the town hall remains a hub of activity.”

The trust is now actively seeking new members who can volunteer their time to support with a broad range of activities such as event planning, support with management, coordinating maintenance and more.

Robert added: “Joining the Town Hall Trust gives you the opportunity to do something positive for your local community.

“It also allows you to volunteer with other like-minded people to help keep an important historic asset in use for the benefit of all members of our community, young and old.”

As revealed in the Advertiser earlier this year, the £1.2 million will be split, with £200,000 in the upcoming 2021-22 financial year and £1m in 2022-23.

At a special council meeting in March this year when the budget was agreed, Clackmannan Cllr Kathleen Martin said: "I was ready to leap up and down when I saw the money to repair Clackmannan Town Hall because it's such a beautiful building.”

The trust is interested to hear from residents of Clackmannan and the Wee County who are interested in supporting their work.

They are also keen to hear from people from a wide range of backgrounds, who can bring their experience, ideas and professional skills to the trust.

They are also keen to hear from younger members of the community who would like to get involved in supporting their work too.
