SAUCHIE Community Group’s Christmas Light switch-on returned in full force this year after a smaller event last winter.

After scaling back last year because of Covid-19, the community group went all out this year with more lights, lots of activities and great music.

Santa visited his grotto in the community garden and listened to hundreds of children give their wish list for Christmas.

In addition to Santa, there was also a silent disco in a party tent, face painting and glitter tattoos, arts and crafts delivered by Laura Turner and Flo Mackenzie, costumed characters, music provided by the Samba Band and Sauchie Community Group Choir and a Christmas treasure hunt.

Sauchie Community Group fundraise all year round to ensure that they can bring the annual event for free.

Craig Miller, co-community manager at Sauchie Community Group, said: “I am delighted that the annual Christmas light switch-on event was back this year.

“It was great to see hundreds of local people pass through Santa’s grotto and take part in the activities that were running on the day.

“Thank you to everyone who made this possible, including Santa, the Ice Queen, their elves, the Samba Band, Sauchie Community Group Choir, the face painters, café volunteers and the Christmas characters.

“A special thank you must go to the Sauchie Community Group Committee who work so hard all year round ensuring that these events happen and that they are free for families.

“With more than 15,000 lights in the Community Garden, this is our biggest year yet.

“I hope that everyone will take some time to come down and walk through our light tunnel, meet our lit up animal characters, get your photo taken with our Christmas sleigh and get yourself in the Christmas spirit.”
