A YOUNG Scout who has been selected to attend an international rally in South Korea is set to host a trip fundraiser in Sauchie/

Emma Harvey, 15, has been picked to attend The World Scout Jamboree 2023 in South Korea and is looking to raise the £3,945 needed to attend.

The Denny High School student, who hails from Bonnybridge, will be at Sauchie Resource Centre on February 19 with a craft market as part of her fundraising efforts.

Emma, an explorer Scout at The North Star Explorer Unit and a young leader at the 27th Bonnybridge Scout Group Cub section, told the Advertiser: "When I first got the invite to attend the jamboree I was ecstatic.

"I flew down the stairs, shouting about the fact I got in.

"I'm incredibly excited to go, I've been researching and learning about the country and the jamboree.

"I'm beginning to learn Korean as well, I'm just not very good at it yet."

The 25th World Scout Jamboree will be a large gathering with more than 40,000 young people expected from all over the world.

They will gather and camp for 11 nights with a variety of activities to take part in during the day.

Emma attended a tough selection camp in late November with her place confirmed just a few weeks later.

In a bid to raise funds for the trip, the young leader decided to hold a series of craft markets – starting at Bonnybridge Golf Club on February 13 then Sauchie Resource Centre a week after.

Emma is also set to hold a raffle and has been collecting prizes from businesses in the area.
