PUPILS at a Clacks primary had to relocate to a different school building this week due to ongoing issues with heating and water systems.

Children from Coalsnaughton PS were asked to relocate to Tillicoultry PS until the end of the February holiday while works at their school progress.

The early learning and childcare (ELC) facility at Coalsnaughton has not been impacted with families advised that children will be able to continue accessing their current setting with additional heating put in place.

Catherine Quinn, interim chief education officer at Clackmannanshire Council, said: "Substantial work is required to install a new heating and water system at Coalsnaughton Primary School.

"To progress this as quickly as possible and to avoid any future disruption, pupils have been temporarily relocated to Tillicoultry Primary School from Monday, January 17.

"This will continue until Friday, February 11, with pupils returning to the Coalsnaughton building after the February break on Monday, February 21.

"Transport is being provided to take pupils from Coalsnaughton primary each day and return them to Coalsnaughton at the end of the day.

"School staff will accompany pupils on the bus."

It is understood pupils will have access to three rooms in Tillicoultry with only Coalsnaughton children on the same floor.

With Covid safety in mind, they have access to their own toilet facilities and arrangements are in place for separate breaks and access to the playground.

The council confirmed that parents and carers have been kept fully informed and the headteacher at Coalsnaughton will be working between the two buildings, answering concerns and questions.

The interim education chief added: "Thank you to Coalsnaughton primary and Tillicoultry primary headteacher and staff who are working very hard to ensure that the children are supported during this temporary change.

"I very much appreciate the parental support and understanding that has been shown."
