AN ALLOA parent of twin girls with complex autism will be competing in a kickboxing match to raise money for the charity that supports them.

Aaron Anderson will be taking part in the Road to Glory Fight Night in Alloa next month to raise money for Play Alloa.

His six-year-old twins Isla and Eryn both attend weekly sessions at Play Alloa and the Clacks dad has decided to raise money for the group by competing.

He said: “Play Alloa is much more than a charity who help children with learning difficulties and other disabilities.

“It is an incredibly valuable and required service in the local community for children with disabilities, allowing them to play in a safe environment.

“Play Alloa has been an invaluable help for us over the years as there are not a lot of places or venues you can take ASD twins without being 100 per cent sure of their safety and surroundings.

“The people who work at Play Alloa deserve tremendous credit and support for the work they do on a daily basis, and I hope to raise enough to help them help children with disabilities.”

Play Alloa provides a creative, life-enhancing range of play and social opportunities for children and adults with disabilities and additional support needs and, in doing so, strengthen their ability to achieve their full potential.

Its aspiration is to offer an extensive range of creative play and social activities to as many local children and adults with disabilities and additional support needs as possible.

Maria Malcolm, senior project manager of Play Alloa, added: “We are delighted that Aaron has decided to raise funds for Play Alloa.

“We love having the girls with us and it’s great to know that their time at Play Alloa also allows Aaron and Megan some time together.

“The pandemic has seriously affected Play Alloa funding as we have been unable to hold any events or local fundraising activities to support our work.

“Donations and fundraising events such as Aaron's help maintain the quality of work, the equipment used and the maintenance of facilities within Play Alloa.

“Small charities like us are at risk of closing if we cannot raise the income we need to continue.

“It’s going to be a tough few years of recovery but we are determined to survive.”

The fight night will be hosted by N-Courage and IKMS Martial Arts on Saturday, February 26, at Alloa Town Hall.

Tickets cost £25 and are available at the Play Alloa office located at 19 Broad Street, Alloa.

Aaron has also set up a Just Giving page to raise as much money as possible for the charity.
