CLACKS residents’ concerns over road safety was addressed by the police last week in a four-day operation.

Officers from Clackmannanshire Community Policing Team ran a road safety operation throughout Clackmannanshire from Tuesday, March 22 until Friday, March 25.

The purpose of this operation was to tackle non-roadworthy vehicles, document offences and educate road users on the dangers of speeding.

During the four day operation, officers checked a total of 1,591 vehicles on the Clackmannanshire road network.

Following the checks, 12 vehicles were found to be driving without valid insurance.

Two drivers did not have a driving licence for the class of vehicle being driven, one driver was charged with careless driving and three vehicles were seized by police.

A further seven tickets were issued for vehicles not having a valid MOT certificate.

Sergeant Ally Goldie, Clackmannanshire Community Policing Team, said: “This operation was in direct response to local concerns over road safety in Clackmannanshire.

“The operation was designed to provide education and enforcement, when required, in relation to all aspects of road safety, all to make the roads of Clackmannanshire safer for all.”
