A VISIBLE scar has been left on the face of the Ochils following a recent wildfire.

Dramatic images captured the moment when gorse bushes went up in an inferno above Alva on Monday, March 28, evening.

Firefighters tackled the blaze, which affected an area measuring around 300sqm, with three appliances on scene.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 8.43pm on Monday, March 28, to reports of a large fire in the open at Back Road, Alva, Clackmannanshire.

“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and an all-terrain vehicle to the area.

“Firefighters extinguished a fire affecting gorse bushes measuring approximately 300 square metres.

“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”

When asked about the cause of the fire, the spokesperson told the Advertiser no further information was available.

The blaze took hold as a wildfire warning was in place following a week of sunny weather with soaring temperatures and variable winds.
