A CLACKMANNAN man has been sentenced for a series of shoplifting offences and getting into a physical struggle with his mum who wanted him out of her house.

Ryan Murray, 33, of Main Street, appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court last Thursday, April 21, via video link from prison, having admitted a string of offences.

On September 24, at Tesco, Auld Brig Road, Alloa, he stole a quantity of cosmetic items.

On November 3, at the Co-op, Main Street, Clackmannan, he stole coffee.

On January 19, at Iceland, Maple Court, Alloa, he stole a quantity of meat.

On the same day, at Tesco, Auld Brig Road, Alloa, he again stole a quantity of meat.

On March 7, at his home, he shouted, swore, acted aggressively and made abusive remarks towards his mother, repeatedly struggled with her, refused to leave and damaged a table by throwing it.

Depute fiscal Susannah Hutchison said that Murray had been asked to leave the family home at 1am by his mother after he had been taking heroin and cocaine.

He refused to leave, calling her a "f****** bitch" and "f****** cow".

Murray was also asked to leave by his brother and his mum began shouting for him to get out.

She tried to pull him off the sofa and he dug his fingers into her arm before throwing a coffee table which struck a wall.

Murray stayed the night but then became abusive again at 10.30am which led to the police being called and him being arrested.

Defence solicitor Michael Lowrie said: "He's disgusted with himself for the incident with his mother."

Sheriff Eric Brown imposed a community payback order with 12 months of supervision.
