AN ALLOA couple is set to mark their diamond wedding anniversary next week.
Elizabeth and David Lindsay are celebrating the milestone on Thursday, May 12, having tied the knot at St Mungo's Parish Church 60 years ago.
The duo, who run Riverbank Laundry Ltd in the town, first met in February 1961 at a Cliff Richard concert.
They say it must have been fate as David was actually an Elvis fan.
A year after their wedding, their son Alan was born, followed two years later by Denis and four years later by Tracey.
David and Elizabeth, nee Whyte, now have a happy family with seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren with three more on the way.
Their venture into the business world started in 1985, when they decided they wanted to be their own bosses, buying the Bridge Inn in Sauchie.
Seeking a fresh challenge, they opened the laundry business in Alloa three years later.
The venture has proved successful, still going strong after 34 years.
As for the secret to a long and happy marriage, the diamond couple said it is always about love and respect for each other.
