BREAKOUT FESTIVAL in has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales, organisers have confirmed.

The inaugural three-day event was due to take place in Kirkcaldy on 27-29 May.

But organisers have confirmed Breakout, which would have raised money for the NHS, will now no longer go ahead.

It had been postponed last year due to concerns over coronavirus cases in the area.

Wet, Wet, Wet were due to perform alongside the likes of Sandi Thom, From The Jam, Hue & Cry and Big Country.

A statement posted on Facebook said: "The current economic climate has contributed to a level of ticket sales that make live events unviable.

"We would like to offer all our thanks to all the bands, partner agencies and suppliers who have continued to give us their full support right to the last minute."

Ticket holders are advised to contact their place of purchase for refunds.
