TWO fighters from Alloa Boxing Club competed in Galashiels at the weekend.

William Boyle and Richard McDonald both represented the club at the show on Saturday, May 28.

Boyle was up first and, after being selected to represent Scotland at the GB Championships, he faced Nathan Pirrie.

Pirrie tried to start quickly but Boyle found his range from the start, landing lovely rear hand counters to win the first round.

In the second round he used two and three phase attacks, landing heavy blows on his opponent forcing the referee to give him two standing 8 counts only to be saved by the bell.

Boyle finished the contest in the third round, landing a cheek bone hook and another punch which forced the referee to stop the fight.

Next up was middle weight McDonald who faced Jack Grant from Chirnside.

He started the first round on the front foot and won the round before his opponent won the second to set up the third and final round.

In a really close round Grant just edged it with a higher work rate to win the fight.

Against a vastly experienced opponent it was a great learning fight for McDonald who gave a great account of himself.
