STUDENTS at a Wee County school are preparing for their performance of Me and My Girl in Stirling this week.

Dollar Academy pupils will be performing the play today, Wednesday, June 15 through Friday, June 17 at the Macrobert Theatre.

The pupils have been rehearsing the show since returning from the Easter break, fitting rehearsals in around SQA exams two evenings a week.

In total there is a 37 strong cast made up of Form III to Form VI pupils and a pupil crew of technical, costume and stage team working alongside.

The show is Me and my Girl, set in 1930s London and tells the story of a Cockney lead character called Bill who becomes heir to the Hareford Estate.

He and his girlfriend Sally must pass a ‘suitability test’ and the show tells the story of how they win over the Hareford family.

The musical contains many hits including Leaning on a Lamppost, The Sun Has Got His Hat On and the title song Me and My Girl.

Dollar Academy's Louise Timney said: "We are very excited to be back in the Macrobert Theatre performing to a live audience."

Performances take place at 7.30pm and there will also be a matinee on Friday, June 17 at 2.30pm with tickets costing £15 for adults and £10 for concessions.
