CHILDREN were this month celebrating at a Sauchie school, having won the First Minister's Reading Challenge.
The P2B class at the town's Craigbank PS won the P2 Pupil Reading Journey category in the challenge, having delved into a deeply satisfying story about a lonely girl, a friendly gorilla, and their enchanted night out.
The class was exploring Gorilla by Anthony Browne, which led to lots of different learning experiences.
These were captured in a short film by class teacher Fiona Baxter, who said her pupils were “over the moon” at winning the prestigious national prize.
Their success was confirmed during an online prize giving ceremony on Thursday, June 9, and deputy headteacher Mrs Ferguson was delighted to present the winning trophy, certificate and a book token to the class.
