AN ALLOA student was one of four to receive recognition from top arts bodies during an end of year show.

Holly MacDonald has been recognised with the Society of Scottish Artists (SSA) New Graduate Award for 2022 following Forth Valley College's annual End of Year Show at the Stirling Campus this month.

She was one of four to be recognised by both the SSA and Visual Arts Scotland visit (VAS) who sent representatives to the student exhibition on Wednesday, June 8.

Progressing into her third year from HND Art & Design, Holly will be invited to showcase her work at the SSA's annual exhibition.

VAS has also shortlisted her and three others to show their work at a graduate showcase award which judges college students' work alongside fourth year honours students from the four Scottish art schools.

The other students include Rona Fraser from Dunblane, Molly Mack from Stirling and Kirstie McKeen from Wishaw.

Linda Paterson, curriculum manager in the college’s Department of Creative Industries, Hospitality and Tourism, said: “We have never had this number of shortlisted students before so are delighted. I think that the variety of programmes they all progressed from – some of them started at the NC Portfolio level course - is testament to the success of the interdisciplinary nature of the degree and is quite unique to us here at FVC.

“Three of them now have offers on the BA Honours Art & Design at the University of Stirling.”
