A TILLICOULTRY garden is preparing to welcome visitors next month as part of Scotland’s Gardens Scheme.

Enthusiastic volunteers have been working hard to transform the garden at Tillicoultry Parish Church and it will be open on Sunday, July 3, from 2-5pm.

The Open Gardens season is in full swing and any visitors have enjoyed the gardens at Kilbryde Castle, Milsey Bank and Bridge of Allan, raising almost £3,500 for charity in the process.

Now a much loved space by the local community, the Tillicoultry garden was once an unloved and overgrown former orchard to the Manse.

It is now open to all and can be used for moments of quiet contemplation, youth groups and for families with young children where they can safely play.

On the day Froglife and the Butterfly Conservation Society will be showing you ways to make your garden wildlife friendly. Rumbling Bridge Nursery, Alpine Specialists from Kinross, will be there too with plants and expert advice.

In addition, there will be a second hand book sale.

Entry costs £5 per person and children go free.

Scotland's Gardens Scheme was founded in 1931 to raise money for the Queen's Nursing Institute Scotland, to help support the Queen's Nurses, before the creation of the National Health Service.
