WEE COUNTY stars lit up a sun-kissed Doune the Rabbit Hole with impressive performances across the weekend.

The four-day festival returned for the first time since 2019 as thousands descended upon Cardross Estate in rural Stirling.

Headliners came in the form of Patti Smith, Amy Macdonald, Teenage Fanclub and Belle & Sebastian, with hundreds more artists appearing across the half a dozen stages.

Among them were talented Clackmannanshire natives Emme Woods and Alan Carberry, who will won over all those who were fortunate to catch them play.

Woods co-fronts the incredible seven-piece outfit The Joy Hotel – a band that surely delivered one of the performances of the weekend with their Jaberwocky stage set on the Saturday.

It was, quite literally, a non-stop rollercoaster that underlined the superb musicianship of the eclectic septet.

With an album already recorded, all eyes will be on the band as they prepare for its release in the near future.

Carberry, who grew up in Sauchie, also showcased his raw talent with an intimate set at the festivals Tum Tum stage on the Friday.

Those lucky enough to catch his set will have been blown away by his raspy vocals and his band's infectious vibe.

The Clacks man told the Advertiser: "Doune the Rabbit Hole is a great festival and this year they pulled in some bands like Patti Smith, Sleaford Mods and Yard Act.

"It's also just the perfect size for a festival; it's easy to get around to catch bands at different stages. It had a great atmosphere; great weather. All good."

Carberry will be back out performing this week as he and his band – the Freakshow Nightmares – play Mucky's in Perth this Friday.

The Clacks man also plays in the band Fuzzy who play the Vicar Street Social in Falkirk later this month, before supporting Brogeal at Glasgow's King Tut's on Sunday, July 31.

Other top performers at Doune the Rabbit Hole included the likes of Poster Paints – spearheaded by the duo of Carla Easton and Simon Liddel – as well as Peaness and The Deep Blue.

She Drew the Gun also delivered an uncompromising set, with Friday headliner Amy Macdonald on form later that evening.

As well as The Joy Hotel, there were a number of incredible Saturday displays including Fauves, The Vegan Leather and Honeyblood.

Baccara also proved to be one of the biggest draws of the weekend as they stowed out the Whistleblower stage on the Sunday.

The duo, best known for their now infamous Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, gave the packed crowd not one but two incredible renditions of the track just for good measure.

Doune the Rabbit Hole is well-known for its community feel and the offering for families was right on the money.

The family zone was littered with activities and performers for young ones of all ages and tastes.

On top of that, there were plenty of crafts, workshops and stalls to amuse and occupy young minds and busy hands.
