THE Sauchie community enjoyed a day of football and summer fun at the weekend.

Sauchie Juniors hosted the Sauchie Cup on Saturday, July 23.

Alongside the Sauchie first team, the U20s, U18s, Gairdoch Utd U18s, Alva Amateurs and Stirling Albion U18s all took part.

The Sauchie first team swept every team away on their way to the final and lifted the trophy.

With a BBQ on throughout the day and a singer in the new hospitality lounge at night for the adults, Sauchie assistant manager Davy Beaton says it was a great day for all.

He told the Advertiser: "It was really good, I think everyone enjoyed it.

"There was a good atmosphere, a lot of the young teams were there. It was a good advert for what we've got at Sauchie.

"There was burgers and that kind of stuff and we had a good turn out from the supporters and their families, lots of kids to watch it to which was great.

"It was a great community day. The young kids enjoyed it and so did the parents.

"It was a good atmosphere and a great day."

Stirling Albion's Youth Academy tweeted: "Well done Stirling Albion U18s who reached the semi-final of the Sauchie Juniors pre-season tournament at the weekend!

"Huge thanks to all at Sauchie for hosting the event, it was thoroughly enjoyed by our squad."

Sauchie's season begins at Beechwood Park this Saturday as the host Tynecastle in a 2.30pm kick off in the East of Scotland Premier Division.
