MOUNTAIN rescue volunteers sprung into action in the Wee County at the weekend to assist a family atop Alva Glen.

Ochils Mountain Rescue Team were called out to the glen at tea time on Sunday, August 14, as the family found themselves on steep ground.

The team attended with 11 members to secure the casualties and assisted them off the hill safe and well.

OMRT said in a social media statement: "They did the right thing by stopping; however, they got a little confused and called 999 and asked for the Coastguard.

"We understand it can be confusing as our colleagues at HM Coastguard provide rescue helicopters; however, HMCG contacted our colleagues at Police Scotland who called out the team.

"Remember if you need assistance or are injured in the hills or remote areas dial 999 ask for police then mountain rescue and the volunteer Scottish mountain rescue teams will assist."
