A PLAYPARK has been built at Wimpy Park for young people and families in the community to enjoy.

The members of the Wimpy Park Community Group recently secured funding to install new play equipment in the Alloa park.

Mark Mitchell, vice chairperson of the group, said: “We established the group in 2017 following a community consultation which highlighted the need to redevelop the park back to community use.

“In particular the community identified the need for play equipment along with a space to play football and reinstate the gardens.

“We have worked tirelessly over these last five years to obtain the lease we required to try make this happen, we have worked closely with the community to improve the area and bring life back into the park with the reinstatement of football areas and the development of the gardens.”

The group secured funding from the FCC Communities Foundation, Kerry EU and Ireland and the National Lottery, along with support from the community through our Community Crowd Funder we have now reached our target which has enabled us to reinstate play equipment in the park.

Mark continued: “Our main funder, the FCC Communities Foundation, have supported this project greatly and helped us reach the goal we required to make this impressive play area for our community to enjoy for many years to come.

“We hope this can show what can be achieved when communities come together and help make positive changes to our area and we truly appreciate the support that has been show to our group.

“This support will enable kids of all abilities to come along and enjoy our green space for growing, sports and play and will help build them into stronger, fitter and more confident individuals and also help to build a stronger community spirit within our area.

“Once again, on behalf of everyone at the Wimpy Park Community Group and our community, we thank everyone for their continued support and look forward to seeing more people use the space.”
