STAFF at an Alloa salon donned pink and made baked goods last week in a show of support for Breast Cancer Now.

Rhona McCallum Hair went pink on Thursday, August 25, to raise funds for the charity with efforts set to continue.

The salon was offering home baking as well as demonstrations and specialist styling sessions for customers as it sought to raise funds and awareness for the good cause.

An annual affair, Rhona and the stylists look to raise funds for the charity each year as it supports women while driving forward research with a vision that by 2050, everyone with breast cancer lives, and lives well.

Alongside the many home baked goods, those heading along on Thursday had the chance to enjoy a ghd (Good Hair Day) wave styling session against a donation.

There were plenty of freebies and discounts available with fundraising continuing into the weekend and the days after.

The effort raised £96.33 for the good cause, which has been encouraging fundraisers to host events throughout August.

Rhona, who has a wealth of experience having established the hair salon more than 30 years ago, told the Advertiser: "It went very well; we managed to raise £96.33, and we are still collecting money for the rest of the week.

"We'd like to thank everybody that came along, joined in all the fun and helped us raise money towards this amazing charity."

Customers were generous throughout the fundraising days and Rhona added: "Everything helps, every 50p, £1 helps and it was really nice to see people donating money into our charity box.

"And they enjoyed all the cakes that we have made as well."

The ghd-styling sessions proved popular and many took advantage of a 40 per cent off offer, which was on for the duration of the fundraiser.

Breast Cancer Now is the largest breast cancer charity in the UK, formed in 2015 by the merger of Breast Cancer Campaign and Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Among other projects, it helps fund the Breast Cancer Now Toby Robins Research Centre at the Institute of Cancer Research in London, employing 120 scientists and clinicians.
