NURSERIES, primaries and ASN settings will close across Stirling next week due to industrial action.

UNISON members in schools and early years centres, including education services staff such as learning assistants, caterers, janitors, cleaners and crossing patrollers will be involved in strikes across September 6 and 8.

Bannockburn, Stirling and Wallace high schools will also close for but all other high schools, including St Modan's which Clacks pupils attend, will remain open.

Stirling council leader Chris Kane said: “After a thorough review of the likely impact of the strikes on our schools, a final decision has today been made to close all primary schools, additional support needs settings as well as Stirling, Wallace and Bannockburn high schools during the strike period.

“We’ve taken these decisions to ensure the safety and security of our young people and staff.

“We’ll issue more information for parents and carers shortly to confirm details on the learning and support provision we’ll put in place over the three days of the strikes, but it was important that we alerted parents and carers as soon as possible to the closures in order that everybody has time to put in place appropriate arrangements.”

Alternative arrangements for pupils receiving free school meals will be confirmed through schools in the coming days, Stirling Council added.

Updates will be posted on the council's website.
