AN ALLOA company teamed up with a good cause in Clacks for a charity golf tournament which entered a landmark year this month.

SG Pro Cleaning has hosted a charity golf day for Scottish Autism for 10 years and the event returned on September 2, hosted at the Duke's Course at St Andrews.

Scottish rugby legend Scott Hastings made a special guest appearance, not only taking part with the SG Pro Cleaning team which won first place but addressing the 22 teams who took part and conducting the charity auction as well.

This year's fundraising total beat previous records with £13,875 going to the charity, bringing the total over the years to more than £70,000.

Scott Hastings said: “It was a great event and a great format at the Duke’s Course, raising money to help the young kids Scottish Autism support.

“It was a great format and we had such a laugh.

“I would thoroughly encourage people to enter a team in next year’s event and raise funds to support a great cause.”

The funds raised will help provide a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) room for pupils at New Struan School in Alloa.

Dorry McLaughlin, CEO at Scottish Autism, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have raised a record total at the golf day, and are very grateful to our partners, SG Pro Cleaning, for their continued support in hosting this event for the past 10 years.

"It was also brilliant to have Scott Hastings with us, who not only inspired the teams before the event, but then took part and won the event before helping us raise such a huge sum at the auction.

"This money will help us to deliver new resources at New Struan School, which will be of enormous benefit to the young autistic people we support."

The money raised will also support efforts to provide beneficial therapy sessions including drama, animation, rebound therapy and horse riding.

Douglas Smith, director at SG Pro Cleaning, added: ”What a fantastic day we had at The Duke's for our annual golf day.

“It was great how everyone and everything came together to make our biggest total to date.

“A huge thanks to everyone involved and for our teams to contribute the way they did.”
