THE new police station at Kilncraigs in Alloa, officially opened last week, will be a little brighter thanks to the efforts of three pupils.

The S6 trio of Kaitlyn Alcock, Abby Patterson and Peter Gardner, all students at Alloa Academy, created a piece of art for the headquarters, delivering the framed piece as Chief Constable Sir Iain Livingstone visited to mark the official opening.

With a brief for a piece to represent Clackmannanshire Council and Police Scotland coming together at a shared facility, the artwork builds on the crest of the Wee County in the background – explained the students.

Thistles were added as an important symbol of Scottish heraldry while in the foreground two hands, representing both organisations, come together for a handshake of partnership.

The students were delighted with the outcome with the academy saying in a social media post that it was “proud” of its young people.
