AN EVENT aimed at looking at improvements in Kincardine is being held this week.

Local residents are being invited to the sessions organised by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust (CRT) to see what progress has been made on work to better the town's infrastructure.

The Imagine Kincardine event will be held on Wednesday (November 2) at the Kincardine Community Centre.

Drop-in sessions will be on between 10am and 2pm and then from 4pm until 8pm.

There will also be a chance to go on a walking tour around the town and discuss the improvements as you go.

These will be on at 11.30am and again at 6pm and spaces can be booked by emailing crt.hub@coalfields-regen.org.uk or calling 01259 230 190.

Politicians have been invited to the event to hear more about the plethora of positive changes which are to take place.

Nicky Wilson, chair of CRT in Scotland, was looking forward to allowing interested parties to see the plans for the area.

“Great improvements are planned for Kincardine and there are a number of initiatives under way to make the town an even better place to live," he said.

"We’re pleased to be holding this stakeholder information event to share the plans and give the local community another opportunity to see the progress that we have made.”

Last month, the improvement plans came a step closer when a planning application for improvement works was approved by Fife Council.

Permission had been sought for £3million of work. This included environmental improvements which would see alterations and re-alignment of carriageway (A977 and A876), the resurfacing of public areas and the installation of street furniture in the High Street area.

The arrangement of the High Street and northern approach road is also set to be changed while new seating and bins would be among the facilities added.
