AN ALLOA man dragged a teenage girl along the ground by her hair and kicked her, a court has heard.

David McMillan, 60, of Smithfield Meadows, previously admitted that on July 25, last year, he assaulted the youngster, then aged 15, on his street.

He repeatedly seized her on the body, attempted to seize a phone from her hand, pursued her, seized her on the body, pulled her to the ground, dragged her along the ground by her arms and hair and repeatedly kicked her on the body, all to her injury.

The 60-year-old appeared for sentencing at Alloa Sheriff Court last Thursday, November 10.

Defence solicitor Robert Smith said his client had no previous convictions.

He went on: "Things got out of hand and he completely overstepped the mark. These actions were completely out of character."

Sheriff John MacRitchie said MacMillan's reaction to the situation had been "particularly extreme".

However, he noted that McMillan has otherwise been "a valued member of society".

The sheriff fined McMillan £470.
