NOMINATIONS are open in 13 categories for Clackmannanshire Sports Council's annual awards.

Individuals and teams are being encouraged to enter the awards with a ceremony to take place at Alloa Town Hall on Thursday, March 23, in 2023.

Always well-supported by the Wee County sporting community, the awards will celebrate the achievements of teams, athletes, coaches and the unsung heroes.

Kenny Cook, active communities officer and secretary for Clackmannanshire Sports Council, is keen to see the achievements of individuals and teams brought into the limelight with many successes on the national and international sporting stages over the past year, especially for the size of the county.

However, the awards are not just there to recognise those who made it to the top of the podium at major events.

Indeed, there are many categories to recognise all forms of achievement.

Kenny said: “The standard in all the categories is always very high with some absolutely amazing achievements.

“Even if people are not competing at national or international level they can still be nominated and recognised for their contribution to sport and physical activity in Clackmannanshire.

“Within the Triumph over Adversity category individuals can be nominated for their participation in sport and or physical activity.

“Coaches who help deliver programmes that are not competitive but more social can also be nominated.

“Young leaders and volunteers can be nominated for their contribution to a local sports club or delivering sports or physical activity in schools.

“Even if a person doesn’t take part in sport but helps behind the scenes with washing the kit, holding fundraising events, doing the administration or booking parks they can still be nominated for their services to sport.

“This is your chance to show your support for someone you know who has achieved something in their chosen sport as an individual or a team and deserves the recognition for it.”

Nomination forms will be made available at libraries and Clackmannanshire Council venues. Alternatively, download one from the council's website once available.
