ST MUNGO’S Parish Church welcomed guests to get into the festive spirit with their annual Festival of Lights celebration.

The event started on Friday, November 25 and will run through to the first week of January in the new year.

The church is lit up by over 30 decorated Christmas trees sponsored by members of the congregation, local business and friends.

Visitors can walk around and look at the trees and vote for their favourite one.

Reverend Sang Y. Cha told the Advertiser the festival was a resounding success this year.

He said: “I think it’s been really successful – we had a lot of people come in the previous weekend.

“All the trees have all their distinct flavour and look about them so each one is truly different.

“The church café is open everyday except Wednesday so the trees are available for viewing between 10am-4pm.”

Over 550 people have visited the church and voted for their favourite tree so far.

St Mungo’s Parish Church is also running their ‘warm bank’ in the community café, which welcomes members of the public to come in, share the heating and socialise.
