AN ALLOA resident is looking to put his body to the test as he hopes to complete a boxing match and a half marathon within a day of each other.
David McNaughton will be taking part in the Ultra White Collar Boxing (UWCB) match on Saturday, March 11, and the Alloa half marathon on Sunday, March 12.
He believes he will be the first to tackle the events so closely together and is looking forward to completing both to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
He said: “I don’t think anyone had ever done this before so when I noticed the days were next to each other, I thought I’d challenge myself for the new year and do both.
“UWCB do around three or four charity events each year and I usually work for them and help out on the night but this year I’ve decided to go for it and take part myself.
“I’m definitely feeling excited for it, I’m looking forward to starting my training and hopefully getting to the fittest I’ve ever been.”
UWCB hosts various events through the year and offers an eight week training programme to anybody wishing to compete in their fundraisers.
The Alloa events have raised a total of £139,489 for Cancer Research UK.
James has set up his own fundraiser to promote both events that he is participating in and donations can be sent by visiting www.justgiving.com/fundraising/david-mcnaughton3
