ASPIRING footballers across Clackmannanshire now have the opportunity to play for a recently launched football club.

Tullibody St Serf's Football Club has been formed by Derek Robertson, known professionally as MozzaPlays on Twitch, following his departure from Open Goal Broomhill.

Derek held the position of club ambassador with Broomhill before their merger with Simon Ferry and the Open Goal podcast and has now moved on to pursue a challenge closer to home.

He said: "This is something I always said I would do if I moved on from Broomhill.

"Tullibody is more than big enough to have a decent team of its own and I didn't know why nobody had tried to do it before.

"We're currently working on putting a committee together and then after that it's about getting the backroom staff and the manager in.

"Then, we've got a lot of groundwork to cover – we contacted the Stirling amateur leagues and they're happy to include us and then we need to sort a pitch to play on."

Starting off in the amateurs, the goal of the club is to breakthrough to the East of Scotland Football League and enter the pyramid from there.

Tullibody St Serf's will initially launch exclusively as a men's team but Derek says the plan in the future is to expand the club to include a women's team alongside youth teams.

While Derek hopes Tullibody to challenge to get into the football pyramid, he wants there to be a strong focus on community within the club.

"Once we've got qualified coaches in, we'll be advertising for players pretty swiftly, next month, I reckon," he added.

"Long term, the plan is that we'll have a team for if we can get into the pyramid but we would always maintain the amateur scene that's open to anyone.

"I'm pretty excited about it. Didn't know what the reaction would be when I announced but it's been really positive so I'm looking forward to getting things moving."

Tullibody St Serf's will be looking to take on players soon and anyone interested in playing can follow the team's social media for more.
