A SAUCHIE woman with a "most appalling" record of offending has been warned to stay out of trouble or go back to jail.

Karen Machan, 43, of Craigview, appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court last Thursday, January 26, for a shoplifting offence.

She previously admitted that on May 11, at the Boots store, High Street, Alloa, she stole cosmetics and toiletries.

Depute fiscal Rachel Wallace said the value of the stolen goods was £120.

Defence solicitor Ruaridh Hood said his client had just been released from prison days before her appearance in court.

Sheriff Neil Bowie deferred sentence for good behaviour until March 9.

He commented: "If you're not of good behaviour, it ties the hands of the court.

"You've just been released from custody and I'm sure you don't want to go straight back.

"I'll give you a period of time for you to be of good behaviour."

In November, Machan was jailed at Alloa by Sheriff John MacRitchie who described her record of convictions as "enormous" and "most appalling".
