A YOUTH group in Alloa is hosting an open day to show off its new premises for 2023.

Connect Alloa is looking to showcase the ongoing work at its premises under Unit 10 at Carsebridge Court, just across Whins Road from the business centre.

The event will go ahead from 4pm on Friday, February 17, with the public invited along for the day.

Visitors will hear direct from the young people and staff involved about the journey of the youth group, affectionately referred to as Connect by those regularly taking part.

There will be refreshments and more, all until 6pm on the day.

Project manager Dave Crozier spoke to the Advertiser last month as the group returned for 2023 with renewed energy.

Thanks to funding from Clackmannanshire Family Wellbeing Partnership's Clackmannanshire Wellbeing Project, the youth group is offering a homework club and social time opportunity on Thursday and Friday afternoons with food provided.

This is followed by an evening club with a range of activities taking place for young people from P7 to the age of 19.

Speaking about the new venue’s potential previously, Dave said: “It's literally what I've always envisioned what a youth group should be.

“There's stuff all up on the walls already and we only ran one night – everything is instantly accessible.

“It's got a place for everyone which is Connect's ethos.”

This year, Dave is also hoping to organise a residential weekend trip for young people and he also spoke of hopes of bringing in renowned award-winning chef Billy Campbell, who heads up the community café at St Mungo's Parish Church where the group enjoyed a social space before the move, for some cookery classes.
