GROUPS across Clackmannanshire and Stirling are being asked to apply for funding and support aimed to educate about the harms caused by smoking.

The community initiatives across Forth Valley will receive a grant of £500 and tailored assistance to improve the mental, physical and financial well-being of people they work with who smoke.

This funding is part of Scotland’s Charter for a Tobacco-Free Generation by 2034 and is provided by health charity ASH Scotland.

Groups who are successful in their applications can sign the charter and pledge three actions that they will take to improve the health of the people they work with.

Sheila Duffy, chief executive of ASH Scotland, said: “We particularly encourage pledges to tackle smoking and applications for a Charter small grant from organisations in areas of multiple deprivation.

“These groups support people facing the greatest challenges to good health, including those experiencing poverty, mental health problems, homelessness, young carers, or people who are care experienced.”

The deadline to apply is Monday, February 20. Groups can email enquiries@ashscotland.org.uk or visit ASH Scotland’s website for more information.
