COMMUTERS from Clackmannanshire are being urged to plan ahead with overnight closures to go ahead on the M876, M8 and M9.

Overnight resurfacing works will start on the M876 eastbound offslip at Junction 2 on Thursday, February 16, to create a smoother surface.

Works will take place between 7.30pm and 6am on Thursday and Friday and then on Monday and Tuesday, February 20 and 21.

A signed diversion will be in place, traffic turning and heading westbound at Junction 3 towards the westbound offslip at Junction 2.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s south east network manager, said: “The safety of our roadworkers and of road users is our first priority. We are closing this section of the road to ensure that everybody is safe while the works take place. We appreciate that the closures may cause delays in some cases and thank the travelling public in advance for their patience."

A programme of works to carry out an essential joint replacement on the bridge that carries the M9 over Bonsyde Road between junctions 3 and 4 will start on Monday, February 20.

Overnight closures are planned on the M9 eastbound between February 20 and 24 between 8pm and 6am.

The following week to March 3, overnight closures will affect westbound traffic between the same hours.

These closures are required to allow the works to be carried out safely, the joint replacement ensuring the long-term integrity of the structure.

Signed diversion routes will be in place, taking traffic via the A905, A904, A933 and A803 through Bo’ness between M9 Junction 3 and M9 Junction 5.

Elsewhere, eight overnight closures will be taking place for resurfacing works on the M8 at Junction 4A eastbound.

Starting next Wednesday, February 22, and finishing by March 4, closures will take place between 8.30pm and 6am, except on weekends.
